Many of our customers say that they are seeking a confidence boost – something our photoshoots can definitely give! But for those times when you can’t be in our studio, here are 5 everyday things to give your confidence a lift…

JUST SAY “THANKS”. When you compliment a child on her dress, she doesn’t respond, “Oh, I don’t think it fits quite right.” (But she might say, “Thanks! And look at my shoes! And my braids! And did I tell you I’m the third tallest girl in my class?”) Stop deflecting praise about your appearance. Simply say “thank you” when someone compliments your thick hair or sparkling eyes. You—and your admirer—will feel better about the exchange, creating positive reinforcement that makes you both want to give and receive compliments more often”. The Oprah Magazine

“Great heels, for example, can really alter the way you feel. They make you walk taller and give you an air of confidence.” – Psychologist Dr Kerri McPherson from Glasgow Caledonian University

“Perfume can instantly make you feel great – I have four in my handbag right now! Depending on moods my current favourites are the new Prada fragrance, Paul Smith Rose, Anais Anais and Chanel No 5 for special occasions”Fearne Cotton

“Always dress for your size – there’s nothing worse than squeezing yourself into a size that’s just too small! Good foundations, a bra that fits you properly and suits your outfit giving the right support and shape. Also stand up straight.” Model Lisa Butcher

“Everybody experiences times – sometimes a lot of them – when their confidence is a little shaky. Even your most confident, outgoing friend won’t always feel like that. The secret is simply to act confidently, even when you don’t feel it. For example, if you’re going into a room full of strangers, hold your head up, survey the room, look people in the eye, smile and ask them questions about themselves. Just these few simple steps will encourage people to react to you positively – which in turn will give you a genuine confidence boost, which you won’t get from standing in a corner looking at the floor.Rosie Mullender, Cosmopolitan Deputy Features Editor
